"Already in 2004 the European Parliament proposed to drastically reduce the transport of live animals for slaughter. Back then, the Council of Ministers ignored our plea. Now that the Parliament has co-decision powers they can no longer do so! I hope that next time Parliament will seize the opportunity to limit the transport of animals for slaughter to no more then 8 hours".
