”I fully support the 8 hours campaign and am appalled at the long and often gruelling journeys for horses and other farm animals being transported for further fattening and slaughter, which in extreme cases sees animals dying in transit.

I have written to Commissioner Dalli expressing my concerns on this issue and urging the Commission not only to support the 8 hour maximum journey limit but to ensure better monitoring and enforcement of both existing and new regulations on animal transportation as a matter of urgency.
